About Our Events
Our troop maintains an exciting schedule of events, meetings, and activities. Our Calendar has information on upcoming meetings and on recent events. Members can view information on upcoming events on the Trail Life Connect Calendar.
Weekly Meetings
Troop NC-613 meets weekly. Our mid/high Navigators and Adventurers meet year-around, while the elementary Woodlands Trail patrol meet during the school year.
For Woodlands Trail, each regular meeting consists of a topically matched set of activities, games, lesson, and devotional, as they move through the seven frontiers of the program (Outdoor Skills, Heritage, Values, Life Skills, Sports & Fitness, Hobbies, and Science & Technology). Woodlands also has periodic special meetings with a guest presentation, field trip, or other special instruction.
For Navigators and Adventurers, meetings vary throughout the year to conform to the needs of the group. We have a long-form devotional a couple times each month, work on badges, plan events, elect officers, and work with the Woodlands boys.
Weekend Events
Our program of campouts is a major part of each year. Our whole Troop camps twice each year in the fall and the spring, 4th-5th grade Mountain Lions camp an additional two times (typically November and March), and our mid/high Navigators and Adventurers camp most months. Our calendar has representative past events.
Our campouts include a variety of activities. Some are focused on outdoor activities such as hiking or canoeing. Otherwise may visit a historical site or point of interest. We also strive to routinely participate in junction events that bring multiple troops together for friendly competition. Our troop likes to eat, and no campout is complete without some good outdoor cooking.
Weekends also include non-overnight activities, including service projects, day hikes, and other events. Our Woodlands Trails program includes several intentional Hit-the-Trail events outside of the classroom, often on a Saturday afternoon.
Our oldest trailmen annually plan and undertake a high adventure trip, including activities such as caving or rafting.
