Volunteer Opportunities

Troop NC-613 operates at a large scale, and always has opportunities for parents and others in the church to become involved in this ministry that is valuable in the life of many boys.

Most positions listed on this site require Adult Registration with TLUSA and agreement with the Shepherd’s Church Volunteer Covenant. More details are available on the following pages:

There are several common characteristics regarding volunteer positions in the troop, which for simplicity we have labeled as Committee, Trail Guide, Specialist, and Team Member. For more information, review the document Our Position Types.

There are many possible ways to organize our team. We will never have every concievable role filled. Instead, we desire to have match closely a role with gifts and abilities of a particular volunteer.

Associate Chaplain Specialist Multiple Serves in the chaplaincy team of the ministry, usually with a particular focus
Communications Chair Committee Single Leader of troop publicity and communications efforts
Equipment Coordinator Committee or Specialist Single Responsible for inventory, storage, and maintenance of equipment
Fundraising Chair Committee Single Overall responsible for troop fundraising initiatives
Fundraising Lead Specialist Multiple Point person on a particular fundraising project
Health and Safety Chair Committee Single Administers health and safety records, reporting, and rules
Media Specialist (Photographer) Specialist Multiple Volunteer focusing on photography in the troop
Media Specialist (Social) Specialist Multiple Volunteer focusing on troop social media content
Membership Specialist Specialist Multiple Volunteer working in a particular area of member-related services
Merchandise Specialist Specialist Single Volunteer leader of merchandise program.
Onboarding Facilitator Specialist Multiple Serves by leading new families through the onboarding process.
Outdoor Event Chair Committee Single Provides leadership in the logistics to accomplish our outdoor activities
Outdoor Event Team Team Member Multiple Volunteer assisting with planning of outdoor events
Service Chair Committee Single Overall responsible for service initiatives within the troop
Service Team Team Member Multiple Volunteer assisting with planning our service initiatives
Trail Guide (Adventurer) Trail Guide Multiple An advisor and mentor to high school youth
Trail Guide (Navigator) Trail Guide Multiple Part of team of leader-advisors of middle school youth
Trail Guide (Woodlands) Trail Guide Multiple Primary leader of elementary youth, working in team
Training Chair Committee Single Volunteer responsible for leader training
