Equipment Coordinator

Our troop makes use of extensive outdoor equipment, including adequate equipment to simultaneously support both the Navigator/Adventurer and Woodlands Trail groups in the field.

Equipment used by the Navigators and Adventurers is the responsibility of the Troop Quartermaster, a youth officer. The Equipment Coordinator is a key advisor to this Trailman. The Equipment Coordinator has direct responsibility for the inventory, storage, and maintenance of equipment not specifically for the Navigator/Adventurer group.

We partner with Shepherd’s Girls in maintaining troop-level equipment. Our Equipment Coordinator should be willing to work collaboratively with that partner ministry.

The Equipment Coordinator may optionally be appointed to the Troop Committee. In such case, the Coordinator will be expected to provide greater strategic insight as to our equipment needs.

Qualifications

Core Duties

  • Provide advice and accountability to the Troop Quartermaster.
  • Ensure protocols are in place to provide the safe storage and responsible maintenance of troop equipment.
  • Recommend replacement equipment to the Troop Committee for acquisition.

Timing of Duties

  • There are not weekly duties at the troop meetings for the Equipment Coordinator. However, the Equipment Coordinator may need to be present for certain equipment-intensive tasks before and after outings.
  • Most duties of the Equipment Coordinator are completed outside of the meeting time. These duties may need to be completed on-campus outside of the meeting time.
  • The Equipment Coordinator should attend campouts and activities to inform a practical understanding of the ministry’s operations, especially as they relate to the use of equipment. The Equipment Coordinator does not typical supervise the use of equipment in the field.
