Training Chair
The Training Chair is a member of the Troop Committee responsible for training initiatives within the troop. This includes standard trail life training, health and safety training, and local training initiatives.
While the Training Chair will frequently conduct some trainings himself, this not necessarily required.
This position lends well to being held concurrently with other positions in the troop.
Qualifications
- Christian man age 21 or older
- Registered Adult (or eligible to be registered)
- Agree to the Shepherd's Church Volunteer Covenant and qualified for service
- Have completed Peak 1 and Peak 2 trainings.
Core Duties
- Arrange training activities for the troop, including at least one new leader training and an annual first aid/CPR training.
- Serve on the area training committee.
- Keep training records for the troop.
Additional Responsibilities
- As a member of the troop leadership, pay active attention to troop business and be on continual lookout for opportunities to improve training outcomes.
- The Training Chair should pursue Train-the-Trainer certification. Reappointment may be qualified on this credential.
Timing of Duties

There are not weekly duties at the troop meetings for the Training Chair.

The primary responsibilities of the Training Chair will take place on scheduled times outside of the weekly meetings. The Training Chair will have substantial planning responsibilities.

The Training Chair is encouraged to attend campouts and activities to inform a practical understanding of the ministry's operations.
