Outdoor Event Chair
The Outdoor Event Chair is a member of the Troop Committee who provides leadership on the logistical arrangements of our outdoor events and campouts.
There is substantial possibility for confusion as to the role of this position. The “Outdoor Chair” is not responsible for outdoor skills instruction—that is a duty of the Trail Guide or his designee. The Outdoor Event Chair is also not responsible for the implementation of all outdoor activities. Individual activities will have a leader on point, and substantial responsibility for planning and implementation rests with the Officer’s Conference (i.e. the youth leadership).
Nevertheless, the Outdoor Event Chair is an important member of the troop’s adult leadership team. He is involved in the research and reservation of sites, advises on the planning requirements, and encourages the completion of our planning process. For Troop-wide activities and Woodlands Trail activities, the Outdoor Event Team will be actively engaged with the Trail Guides in the planning of the event, coordinating the schedule from the Trail Guide team with details such as equipment, reservations, supplies, and food arrangements.
The Outdoor Event Chair is responsible for supervising designated grub masters, providing guidance as to our troop’s best practices in outdoor meal planning.
