Devotional - Teamwork
Opening
- We learned today the importance of teamwork, now let’s see what the Bible says about it.
- Read, or someone read the Teaching verse. FYI: The memory verse is further down
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Devotional
Big picture: Life is easier when we work together, and we learn Godly lessons along the way.
- Q: Who is your favorite sports team? And why is it your favorite?
- We all have favorite teams, but God’s favorite team is the Body of Christ.
- Q: Does anyone know who the Body of Christ is? It’s all Christians working together for God’s glory.
- The Bible talks a lot about the Body of Christ, and that we should work together in harmony, as one.
- The teaching verse reminds us that when we work together, we can get much more work done AND many other good things, such as:
- Teamwork encourages everyone on the team.
- Teamwork shows you respect others by helping them or being helped.
- Teamwork makes doing difficult things more enjoyable.
- Working as a team makes the time fly by.
- God is glorified by working with others. The Holy Spirit is magnified in cooperation.
- When we work with others, they get to see our faith in action by how we work.
- Most opportunities to share our faith happen when we are on a team.
- Christians should be the most cheerful workers because we are working for God in all things we do.
- It takes cooperation to work as a team. Cooperation means we choose to help others.
- Cooperation also means we put others’ needs before our own to make the team work well.
- God likes teamwork and cooperation, just look at the Holy Trinity. That is the perfect team: 3 in 1!
- Q: Who were Jesus’ human team members? That’s right, the 12 disciples.
- Early on the disciples didn’t understand how to be Jesus’ teammate, but in the end, they understood with the help of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it takes patience for a team to work well together.
- Last week we learned about service. Serving on a team is another way to serve God and others.
Memory Verse #2
Ask if anybody knows it yet and can say it? Read it together 2X Consider having a memory verse pamphlet for kids take home.
Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
